Vital is a pleasure to climb at. There are so many problems for climbers at every level and the schedule for resetting is posted with dates so you can see how long you have to finish your project. The training facility for climbing has everything a climber could need or want. The staff is friendly. There’s even a wall on the roof, though I didn’t go because it was too cold. I felt incredibly safe and respected as a female climber here, every single time I’ve gone. Visiting vital for a week was worth every penny of the week pass I bought. I couldn’t recommend Vital more.… – show

This gym started off great, but is now so crowded in the fitness area, it's rare that you don't have to wait for a piece of equipment. Many people that work out here are incredibly inconsiderate to others in the gym and there is a lack of awareness in general.
Additionally, this is one of the only gyms left in the city that is continuing to unnecessarily force people to wear masks, despite there being no mandate and no data to support the need to wear masks. When asked, the management refuses to state what data will inform their decision to stop this fascist mask mandate. It seems they just care about feelings, instead of using actual science and data to make decisions.… – show

Finally got a chance to stop by Vital and climb! Such a great experience overall. The facility is so spacious and kept really clean. The staff was helpful and made us feel super welcomed. And of course there was the rooftop with the incredible views and fire pit. Such a dope space. Highly recommend it!

Huge bouldering gym with nice amenities. Can get a bit crowded so I suggest going during a time when it’s a bit more mellow.

Most importantly, this place is clean. It offers fabulous options for climbers at all levels. Their website shows how many people are at the gym in that moment so check to see if the facility is crowded before you enter. Spring for a pair of climbing shoes if you don't want to wear shoes that others have worn barefoot!

A friend recommended Vital to me since this is in her neighborhood. I live on the opposite side of the city. The travel was absolutely worth it. Maddy greeted me as I entered and I am totally out of my element which she probably could tell. I signed up for the waiver and went around. Maddy showed me a tour of the entire facility. It’s an incredible gym that I wish was closer to where I live but I am gladly making the effort to get to this specific spot. Two floors worth of awesome! You can check it out any time 7 days a week.… – show

My favorite rock gym in the city. The routes are fresh and innovative. The space is clean and inspiring. The outdoor spaces are incredible. The only thing to note before visiting is that it's bouldering only. No ropes here.

Love this place. Admittedly I am new to bouldering so can’t compare to other bouldering gyms. But the bouldering 101 clinic included with membership was invaluable to my enjoyment of that part of the gym. More frequently I am using the fitness facilities which are top notch, if a bit cramped at peak hours.
4 stars only because of lack of proper locker rooms. Would also like to see a turf area for sleds and jumping type movements but I understand that space is limited and vital is a climbing first gym.
Worth checking this place out if you enjoy (or think you would enjoy) bouldering, or if you are looking for a gym with a great selection of fitness equipment (not to mention yoga, spin, and fitness classes).
Overall a very welcome addition to the neighborhood and my routine! The membership fee is worth it because they offer so much to their members, including a quasai shared work space.… – show

Vital is the biggest bouldering gym so far I’ve seen in NYC, which means you never get bored and can switch between problems easily and not get stuck on a couple of projects.
Also a good variety of beginner routes, so that you can always to come with the friends who always wanted to give it a shot.
Additional thanks for playing an awesome Skryptonite music. Very unexpected and pleasant surprise

There's a Williamsburg before vital and one after. Can't miss climbing if you're in the city
