Juvéderm XC is an FDA-approved dermal filler, specifically formulated to add volume to the skin around the mouth and nose that has been lost due to the natural aging process. This injectable gel restores a youthful contour to the face, plumping up the area and softening lines, facial wrinkles and folds. The main component in Juvéderm XC is hyaluronic acid, a substance found naturally within the human body, which hydrates and supports skin. Over time, the levels of hyaluronic acid produced by the body begin to decline, leading to changes in facial definition. Juvéderm XC naturally integrates into the skin, restoring levels of hyaluronic acid and stimulating the growth of firmer, more youthful-looking skin.Who Are Ideal Candidates For Juvéderm XC?Ideal candidates for Juvéderm XC are healthy adults over the age of 21 who have experienced noticeable signs of aging around the mouth or nose, including fine lines, wrinkles or facial folds. While more common among older adults, younger men and women may also experience these issues due to various factors such as genetics, weight loss and illness. Patients who are pregnant or who have severe allergies are not considered candidates for treatment with Juvéderm XC.The Juvéderm XC ProcedureJuvéderm XC injections take about 15 minutes to complete and are administered in a medical office. Juvéderm XC is injected under the skin with a small needle, adding volume deep within the areas surrounding the nose or mouth. The gel formula contains lidocaine, a numbing agent, to prevent patients from experiencing pain during treatment.Improvements in the skin will be visible immediately after the procedure. There is no downtime required following treatment with Juvéderm XC, and most patients can resume their normal daily activities after their treatment session. While the results of Juvéderm XC are not permanent, they are very long lasting, with some patients achieving results that last for up to one year. What Are The Juvéderm XC Side Effects? While Juvéderm XC is considered a safe procedure, there are possible side effects associated with the use of any dermal filler. The most common side effects of Juvéderm XC treatment may include swelling, infection, bruising, itchiness, skin discoloration and discomfort. When these complications do arise, they are generally moderate and subside within a few weeks.Juvéderm Voluma XCA new hyaluronic based filler has reached the market with remarkable qualities. Juvéderm Voluma XC is the only filler cleared by the FDA to restore volume loss in the cheeks. By lifting rather than filling the cheeks, more youthful proportions and appearance can be attained. Treatments typically take 15 minutes and require only local anesthetic. There is little to no downtime; many patients return to their normal activities after their appointment.Patients typically need only one or two treatments to achieve the full effect of Radiesse®. Your doctor may recommend a follow-up appointment to determine whether you would benefit from additional treatments. Are There Any Side Effects To Radiesse?Side effects such as mild irritation, itching, swelling, discoloration or tenderness at the injection site are minimal and should fade within a few days. When Will I See The Results Of My Radiesse® Treatment? How Long Do Results Last? Results are visible immediately after the injection and can last for up to a year or more. Touch-up treatments can prolong Radiesse's effects. Studies have shown that patients require fewer re-treatments with Radiesse® than with other leading dermal fillers.More
When we are young, our skin is smooth and elastic with a healthy glow. As we age, our ability to maintain that smoothness and elasticity diminishes. This can result in skin that becomes drier, thinner and less able to replenish itself. Our body's natural collagen and hyaluronic acid levels decrease and our skin becomes looser. This leads to our skin wrinkling and appearing older than it should.Approved by the FDA, Restylane® gel is designed to match your skin, smoothing wrinkles, sculpting lips or shaping facial contours. With its unique ability to bind with water, Restylane is able to perform for many months in your skin. The most common areas for a Restylane treatment are the glabellar lines (between the eyebrows) and the nasolabial folds (from the root of the nose to the angle of your mouth). Restylane products are the first and only FDA-approved products for lip enhancement. When used for lips, the under eye are or facial contouring along the cheeks, temples, chin or jaw line, Restylane treatment will add shape and volume to the area. This treatment is able to plump the skin under your wrinkles, which are then lifted up and smoothed out. Restylane can also be used successfully to fill and smooth the surface of scars, rejuvenate sagging earlobes and restore the hands and feet to a more youthful, even appearance.Since no pre-testing is required, a Restylane treatment can be performed almost immediately. It usually takes about 30 minutes depending on the type of correction you want. Most people find the injections relatively painless, but a topical anesthetic can be applied to the area prior to your treatment. You will be able to see the results as soon as your treatment is completed.Restylane, manufactured by a unique method in Sweden, is clear transparent gel composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that is found throughout your body. Hyaluronic acid gives volume to your skin and has been used as a lubricant in arthritic joints. It has even been used during eye surgery to protect the retina. The hyaluronic acid found in Restylane is not of animal or human origin which means that there is no risk of disease transmittal or allergic reaction, which you might find in other cosmetic fillers.More
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a prescription drug that, when injected, temporarily paralyzes muscles. It contains a purified and safe form of botulinum toxin A, which is produced by the microbe that causes botulism. Manufactured by Allergan, Inc., it is used to treat permanent furrows and deep wrinkles in the skin that are formed by the continual contraction of facial muscles. In addition to its cosmetic applications, it is used to treat a number of medical problems, including excessive sweating, overactive bladder, neck spasms, crossed eyes, chronic back and jaw pain, and migraines.Applications For BOTOX® CosmeticAlthough originally approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of eye and muscle spasms, BOTOX Cosmetic was quickly recognized for its cosmetic value. Xeomin® Injections

Xeomin® is a prescription medication used to effectively treat intramuscular conditions such as blepharospasm, or abnormal involuntary closing of the eyelid. Xeomin is composed of botulinum toxin type A, a naturally occurring protein that is produced by the bacteria Clostridium botulinum. Xeomin is injected into the affected muscles in order to reduce their activity. Xeomin does not stop the muscle from moving entirely; instead, it modifies the contractions. This is achieved by inhibiting a body chemical called acetylcholine from signaling all of the nerves within the muscle to contract.Blepharospasm is a condition involving abnormal involuntary spasms of the eyelids. Injections of Xeomin administered into the muscles of the eyelid can help relieve spasms for many patients. The number of injections necessary will vary from patient to patient, depending upon the number of muscles affected and the severity of the condition. Acne & Scarring Treatment

Acne: What Is It And How Is It Treated?Acne is the term for the blocked pores, pimples, and deeper lumps that can appear on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders and upper arms. Not only is acne unattractive, it can also cause a permanent acne scar and emotional distress. Fortunately, patients can often improve mild acne by washing with warm water and a mild soap twice a day and/or using a topical over-the-counter acne medication. For severe cases, laser treatment is recommended.Acne is a common condition that causes blocked pores, pimples, cysts and other lesions on the skin. While it is most common in teenagers, acne can affect people of all ages, most often appearing on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders and upper arms. How Are Acne Scars Formed? For many patients, once acne lesions clear up or are removed, they leave behind discolorations and indentations on the skin. In many cases, acne can lead to scarring, especially if it is severe. Scars may form after acne has healed and cleared, and may vary from person to person. Some people may have small flat scars that are not very noticeable and others may suffer from more visible and indented scars on the face or affected area. Acne scarring is most often caused by larger acne lesions, such as cysts or nodules, which can swell and rupture, causing a break in the wall of the individual pore. Infected material from the inflamed lesion can spill out through this break and can affect the nearby healthy tissue, leading to the appearance of a scar.Although not harmful, most people are bothered by the unattractive appearance of these scars and seek treatment to remove or significantly reduce their appearance. Our doctors have a variety of treatments available to treat and minimize the appearance of acne scars. What Are The Types Of Acne Scars?Acne scars can vary in appearance and texture depending on the type and severity of the original acne lesions. Each type of acne scar may require a different type of treatment in order to repair the damaged areas of the skin and produce a smooth, clear appearance.Atrophic ScarsAtrophic scars develop when there is a loss of tissue. Common types of atrophic scars include ice pick scars and boxcar scars. Ice pick scars are narrow indentations that form deep within the layers of the skin, creating an appearance that the skin has been punctured with an icepick. Boxcar scars are round depressions in the skin similar to chickenpox scars, which may be superficial or deep, depending on the severity of the pimple.Hypertrophic ScarsHypertrophic scars are caused when the body produces too much collagen as acne wounds heal, resulting in excessive amounts of raised tissue on the skin's surface. Also known as a rolling scars, hypertrophic scars create a wave-like appearance in the skin as a result of bands of tissue that develop deep within the skin and pull the epidermis down in certain spots.Preventing Acne ScarsThe most effective way to prevent acne scars from developing is to stop the lesions that lead to scarring from forming. It is also important for patients to avoid picking or popping active lesions, as this can lead to infection and increase the risk of scarring. Picking at scabs should also be avoided to allow natural healing to occur without interruption. Sun exposure can lead to further damage of the skin and may delay healing of scars and lesions, and should be avoided as much as possible to maintain the health of the skin. Some patients are naturally prone to developing scars from acne and will not be able to prevent these scars from occurring. Fortunately, there are many treatments available to reduce the appearance of acne scars and revitalize the skin.More
Acne Extractions
By agreement
Acne Extractions (Acne Surgery)Extractions may be performed on comedone and other types of open pimples, cysts or lesions on the skin. Comedone pimples, commonly known as blackheads or whiteheads, occur when hair follicles become clogged with oil and produce small bumps on the skin. They most often appear on the forehead, chin and nose, which is where oil glands on the face are located.Your your physician or staff member will perform extractions using a special metal instrument that presses down firmly on the targeted area of the skin to gently unclog the plug and remove any oil, bacteria or debris from the lesion. For certain types of blemishes, a sterile needle may be used to break the skin before removing any debris or buildup from the area. Extractions may be performed with steaming techniques, which help to open the pores of the skin and can lead to more aesthetically-pleasing results. Treatment may be covered by your insurance. Copays and deductibles apply.More
Chemical Peels
By agreement
Chemical peels remove damaged outer layers of skin to make skin smoother, reduce scarring and remove blemishes. Ranging from mild to strong, there are three types of chemical peels: alphahydroxy acid (AHA), trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and phenol. The strength of each peel is tailored to the patient. Peels can be combined with other procedures, such as facelifts, for additional improvement to skin. Chemical peels may be covered by insurance if they are performed for medical rather than cosmetic reasons.Chemical peels are performed in a plastic surgeon's or dermatologist's office, or an outpatient surgical center. Anesthesia is not required because TCA and phenol have anesthetic properties, and AHA produces only a slight stinging.Chemical Peel ProcedureDuring a TCA or phenol peel, the skin is cleansed and the solution is applied, which may cause a brief stinging sensation. Petroleum jelly or a waterproof adhesive tape may be put on the skin following a phenol peel. During an AHA peel, the skin is cleansed and the solution applied; there is no need for post-peel ointment or covering.Post Chemical PeelA phenol or TCA peel can result in tingling or throbbing, reddened skin, a crust or scab, and significant swelling that lasts, depending on the strength of the peel used, about a week. With a phenol peel, eyes may be swollen shut at first, and the patient may be put on a liquid diet and advised to keep talking to a minimum. Any tape used is removed after a day or two. AHA peels can cause temporary stinging, redness and irritation, as well as flaking or crusting. After a chemical peel, it is essential that the skin be protected from the sun.More

Fraxel
By agreement
Fraxel — Fractional Skin ResurfacingAs a person ages, their collagen production begins to decline, which leads to a gradual breakdown of the skin's underlying support structure. Daily exposure to the sun's ultraviolet rays and other elements can cause the skin to become discolored and premature wrinkles may start to show. The Fraxel re:store DualTM Laser treatment eliminates fine wrinkles, acne scars and brown spots as well as tightening and rejuvenating the skin. This innovative treatment method can reverse early signs of facial aging and restore a fresh youthful look to your skin. Most patients say they look five to 10 years younger after a series of 3 or 4 procedures. These effects can last years after treatment as long as good techniques in skin protection and an overall healthy skin care regimen are regularly practiced.Resurfacing With The Fraxel Re:store Dual LaserThe innovative design of the Fraxel DualTM Laser takes fractional resurfacing to new heights. The Fraxel re:store DualTM Laser optimizes traditional treatments by introducing non-ablative columns into the tissue. Because the laser beam has been fractionized, small areas of untreated skin will be left between the treated spots. This promotes rapid and long-term collagen remodeling while minimizing pain for the patient. It maximizes the convenience factor as well, since less time is typically spent in the doctor's office. A Fraxel laser procedure usually takes less than 30 minutes to perform. Results will continue to improve long after treatment as the collagen reforms itself. The Fraxel re:store DualTM Laser is fast, effective and efficient. Each pulse of energy removes a column of tissue. As tissue removal occurs, deep heating stimulates and promotes collagen realignment. Treatments with the Fraxel re:store DualTM Laser will improve your skin's strength and elasticity and will result in a smoother, tighter texture and pigmentation problems will begin to disappear. The FRAXEL RE:STORE DUAL Laser ProcedureThe sensations felt during the laser skin resurfacing treatment vary from patient to patient. Most patients will experience a warm, sharp feeling and a quick tightening of the skin. When the treatment is complete, many patients look and feel as if they have minor sunburn for 2 to 3 days on average. Anesthetic and/or cooling treatments may be used to reduce any pain during and after the procedure. There are a wide range of treatment options offered by the Fraxel re:store DualTM Laser. The treating physician has precise control over the settings including size, shape, density and duration, allowing the treatment to be tailored to the specific needs of each patient. All patients are not the same; therefore, the pulse duration is adjustable. This provides doctors with the ability to safely control the amount of skin coagulation. Unlike older CO2 treatments, which caused significant scarring and sores, fractional lasers leave surrounding tissue unaffected. This allows the skin to heal much more quickly and reduces recovery time considerably.Fraxel re:store DualTM Laser skin resurfacing is a safe and effective procedure for almost any skin type but it is best for fair or light skin tones. All parts of the face age at the same time, therefore it is normal that the Fraxel re:store DualTM Laser treatment will typically be applied to the entire face and neck area at one time. However, a focus is often placed on the loose skin around the eyes, in order to reduce fine lines and wrinkles in this especially susceptible area. The Fraxel re:store DualTM Laser can also be applied to most areas of the body to achieve tightening and rejuvenation. Brown spots on the back on the hands or upper chest are common requestsIf you are unhappy with the appearance of your skin, the Fraxel re:store DualTM Laser treatment may be the right choice for you. Long term results, in addition to minimal or no down time after treatment, make this the perfect solution for many patients who want a more youthful look.More
Laser For Stretch Marks
By agreement
Stretch marks are caused by a rapid growth in the body which results in stretching the skin. The collagen and elastic fibers that hold skin together in the dermis are loosened. The recoil of the skin is lost so it stays loose and not taut. The skin has lost its ability to «bounce back.» Steroids or hormones released by pregnancy or puberty can interfere with collagen formation. Weight gain and muscle building are also causes. Striae often appear on the abdomen, arms, thighs and buttocks. Topical treatments like creams usually fail because they cannot penetrate deep into the dermis of the skin where the cause of stretch marks lay. Previous laser therapy faded redness but did not address the root cause of stretch marks.Fractional photothermolysisis is a form of photorejuvenation that involves tiny columns of energy that gently heat the deeper layers of the skin. The technology has been adapted to treat and shrink stretch marks whose genesis also lay deep in the skin. The intense heat creates tiny wounds in the affected areas. The controlled wounds heal over time, significantly decreasing the appearance of stretch marks as new, healthy skin grows. Side effects are usually minimal. Improvement occurs gradually over several treatments. The improvement continues up to 6 months after the last treatment as the skin continues to remodel itself. The Starlux 1540 non-ablative fractional laser is the only FDA approved treatment for stretch marks. Treatment is safe and effective in patients of any skin type or color. Fractional resurfacing also causes improvement in wrinkles and acne scars.More
Laser Hair Removal
By agreement
Laser hair removal is a cosmetic procedure used to remove unwanted body hair with pulsed laser energy. This procedure removes hair from the targeted area while leaving the surrounding skin unharmed. Common areas on which laser hair removal is performed are the chin, upper lip, chest, underarms, back, bikini line and legs. Areas targeted are usually somewhat dependent on the gender of the patient. While there are many temporary treatments to remove unwanted hair, such as tweezing, shaving, using depilatory creams and waxing, patients seeking more permanent, less irritating or painful methods, are frequently very pleased with laser hair removal. Through this safe, painless procedure, patients can enjoy long-term hair removal from nearly any area of the body with the exception of the eyes since there is a possibility of serious eye damage.Who Are Good Candidates For Laser Hair Removal?Individuals whose excessive hair growth in a particular region of the body is bothersome are candidates for laser hair removal. Excessive hair growth may be the result of heredity, certain medications or disease processes, or hormonal changes during puberty, menopause or pregnancy, Whatever the cause of the condition, laser therapy may be an effective solution. The success of laser hair removal is affected by hair color and skin type. The most effective results usually occur in individuals with dark hair and light skin. This is because the laser beams target the melanin, or pigment, in the hair. Individuals with blond, red, gray or white hair are not usually good candidates for laser hair removal. Recent technological advances have made laser hair removal for dark-skinned individuals more successful, while procedures to effectively remove light-colored hair with lasers are presently under investigation. What Are The Benefits Of Laser Hair Removal? There are many benefits to having unwanted hair removed through the use of laser therapy. Among these are that laser hair therapy is:Precise, targeting dark coarse hairs for immediate removal.Quick, removing upper lip hair in only minutesLong-lasting, showing permanent results for 90 percent of patientsLaser Hair Removal ProcedureLaser hair removal is performed while the targeted area is numbed by a topical anesthetic. A handheld device that emits intense laser pulses is moved across the region, focusing on individual hair follicles. There are several different methods of laser hair removal, some of which combine laser impulses with radiofrequency. An appropriate method for each individual patient is decided in consultation with the physician administering treatment.Hair growth takes place cyclically in three stages. The most effective laser hair removal takes place during the andogen, or full-growth stage. Hair follicles that are in a stage of active growth will be disabled by the laser energy, stopping continued hair growth. Because all of the hair is not in the same stage of growth at any given time, several laser treatments, usually between three and five, spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart, are necessary. To some extent, the length of necessary treatment will depend on the location and texture of the patient's hair. For many patients, laser hair removal is painless. Some individuals experience minimal discomfort, usually described as something like a rubber band snapping against the skin.Recovery From Laser Hair RemovalSome redness, soreness or swelling may occur immediately after a laser hair removal treatment, but these symptoms almost always disappear within a few days. Cold compresses or ice packs, moisturizers, and anti-inflammatory creams may minimize discomfort. Sun exposure should be avoided as much as possible for some period of time after treatment is complete.Laser Hair Removal Vs Bikini WaxOne of the biggest decisions that patients are faced with is, should I get a bikini wax or laser hair removal. While both have their benefits about them, there are still a few things to consider. One common concern is the degree of pain that is expected from either procedure. Bikini waxing involves using a wax that physically pulls out hairs, which can be painful and irritating. Also, for some it may cause ingrown hairs. This type of treatment does not allow for permanent hair reduction. Laser hair removal uses a light that treats the root of the hair, causing it to reduce hair growth or decrease the density of the hairs. We believe that patients find bikini waxing to be more painful than laser hair removal. For laser hair removal patients, we typically apply numbing cream for 20—30 mins prior treatment. This allows patients to feel much less pain than waxing.Waxing can increase the risk of skin infection, because waxing pulls out the hairs, when hairs grow back an ingrown hair can occur due to disruption of the follicle. This can occur especially in patients with curly hair. If the ingrown hair is not treated, it can lead to an infection.More
Microdermabrasion
By agreement
Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive exfoliation treatment for skin that reduces the appearance of sun damage, scars, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation. During microdermabrasion, a gentle stream of aluminum oxide crystals exfoliates the outer layer of skin, after which the dead skin cells and crystal particles are vacuumed away to reveal healthy, fresh skin. In addition to its cosmetic benefits, microdermabrasion helps to enhance circulation and lymph flow. Results are immediately visible, and there is no downtime for the patient, who can immediately resume regular activities. Performed in-office, microdermabrasion does not require anesthesia, and can be combined with other procedures such as chemical peels or laser treatment.Microdermabrasion is a much less invasive procedure than dermabrasion, which is used to treat more serious skin problems. Dermabrasion, in which several layers of skin are removed, is considered a surgical treatment. The Microdermabrasion ProcedureDuring the microdermabrasion procedure, which is usually performed by an aesthetician, a handheld device is used to transmit tiny crystal particles across the targeted treatment area. The crystals and dead skin are then suctioned away with a vacuum tool, revealing fresh underlying skin. A treatment session can last from 5 to 60 minutes. The results of a single microdermabrasion treatment are temporary. For continued improvement, treatment should be repeated every 2 to 4 weeks.Risks Of MicrodermabrasionMicrodermabrasion is considered safe for all skin types, and is appropriate for Asian and dark-skinned patients who may be at risk for skin discoloration with other types of treatment. There are no serious risks associated with microdermabrasion, although some patients experience mild redness and irritation after treatment, and patients older than 70 may have a slightly escalated risk of bruising and skin abrasions. Avoiding sun exposure after microdermabrasion is important because some of the skin's natural protection may be removed during treatment. In patients who have a history of cold sores, undergoing microdermabrasion may reactivate the virus that causes them. In those cases, avoiding treatment around the lip area and/or taking preventative antiviral medication prior to treatment may be recommended.More
Microneedling
By agreement
Goldman dermatology is now proud to be offering microneedling with the Ecclipse-MicroPen, the only FDA approved pen on the market.Micro needling therapy is a noninvasive cosmetic procedure that helps rejuvenate the skin, Improving tone and texture as well as acne scarring. It can improve wrinkles, fine lines, rough skin texture, large pore size, aging and sun damaged skin as well as acne scars and stretch marks.Micro needling, otherwise known as collagen induction therapy, uses tiny needles that pierce and injure the upper layers of the skin. The skin then responds to these injuries and produces more collagen. The depth of penetration for these needles can be adjusted by the treating physician depending on the areas being targeted. It can also be combined with PRP, platelet rich plasma, and serums for a greater effect.Multiple treatment sessions over time are needed for the best results. You can expect a sunburn like sensation on the skin directly after treatment that will usually subside within the first 24 hours, followed by some dryness and minor peeling of the skin lasting up to one week. Your physician will recommend an at home maintenance regimen to complement the procedure. Please schedule a cosmetic consult with one of our physicians if interested in microneedling and they can determine if this procedure is right for you.More
Microneedling & PRP
By agreement
Microneedling/prp is a procedure which safely stimulates the skin's natural healing process. Acne scars and wrinkles are skin problems that many people have, which is where microneedling becomes useful. When done correctly, microneedling minimizes wrinkles, rejuvenates the skin and improves the appearance of scars. Microneedling causes micro injuries to the skin, which forces the skin to heal itself by creating new elastin and collagen. When done by a professional dermatologist, the treatment is customized for the best results.Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is blood taken from the patient, spun down and then applied to the same patient. The microchannels created by the microneedling allows the PRP to penetrate down the layers of the skin causing a release of growth factors resulting in a rejuvenated appearance. In this procedure, Nutrient-rich plasma is spread onto the face during the procedure. The plasma comes from the patients own blood.More
PRP Injections For Hair Loss

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)Platelet rich plasma has taken the world by storm in the last few years as an attractive option to address thinning hair for both men and women. While still few, publications and longer term studies have confirmed safety and efficacy in more and more patients. The PRP Injection ProcedureFirst your own blood is taken in the office and the plasma is separated by a centrifuge. Growth factors are found in the concentrated plasma which is important because growth factors are messengers that tell our hair cells and skin to function optimally.Treatment Of Thinning HairThe idea is it can woke somnolent hair cells to behave more like young healthy hair cells to produce more hair and possibly thicker hair. PRP harnesses your own bodies regenerative powers to stimulate natural hair growth The treatment is thought to facilitate hair follicle development. It is also used for skin rejuvenation and to improve wrinkles, skin tone and condition.PRP Injection ProtocolWe customize PRP intradermal scalp injections to the patients need but typically treat the scalp monthly for three to four months followed by a session every three to four months for the first year. Improvement can be expected within the first two to six months. Additional sessions are spread further out but the effects of PRP are not permanent. It is generally recommended for PRP injection to be periodically continued to maintain improvement in hair restoration.Patient InstructionsPatients who are on blood thinners are not good candidates for PRP. Please avoid aspirin and certain anti-inflammatory pain relievers (NSAIDS) like Advil or Aleve one week prior to treatmentMore
Photofacials
By agreement
Photofacial is a non-abrasive and non-invasive rejuvenation of your skin using the remarkable technology of Intense Pulsed Light, or IPL. Damage caused by sun exposure, disease and other conditions can lead the appearance of redness, inflammation, pigmentation or other symptoms within certain areas of the skin. Although not usually of medical concern, these symptoms can affect a person's self-confidence because of their cosmetic effects. Photofacials can improve the signs of sun damage, rosacea and brown spots on the face, hands and body. It has also been used to reduce the appearance of mild acne scars, dark circles around the eyes and fine lines around the eyes and mouth.Photofacials use concentrated pulses of light, or IPL, to improve the texture, tone and appearance of the skin in patients with sun damage, sunspots, rosacea, spider veins and other embarrassing or unsightly conditions. The pulses of light used during this treatment target pigmented areas of the skin and dissolve the affected cells to create a smoother and clearer complexion, treating several conditions simultaneously when needed. This treatment can be used effectively on the face, chest, neck, arms, back and legs, depending on the condition of each patient's skin and their individual goals for treatment. The Photofacial ProcedureDuring the photofacial procedure, pulses of light are emitted into the skin. The light is absorbed by the pigment in sunspots and the blood in the visible vessels, and converted to heat. The heat dissolves the cells that create the pigment and shrinks the vessels. The photofacial handpiece is gently pressed into the skin of the targeted area to deliver painless pulses of light. The patient may experience a sensation similar to a rubber band being snapped on the skin, although most patients report this sensation as being tolerable. A topical anesthetic gel may be applied prior to treatment in order to minimize potential discomfort. After the treatment, the topical anesthetic is removed with a warm cloth, and moisturizer is applied with sunscreen. If there is any mild swelling, a cold pack may be applied for five or ten minutes. Commonly, the doctor will allow a patient to reapply foundation or concealer immediately after treatment. Each treatment session takes about 20 to 45 minutes to perform, depending on the size and location of the targeted area. Usually four to six treatment sessions are recommended to produce optimal results. What Is The Recovery Process After A Photofacial? What Are The Results Of Photofacials? After the photofacial treatment, patients can return to work and other regular activities the same day with little to no side effects. The skin may appear slightly flushed and capillaries may appear more visible, but these changes are often unnoticeable to others. It is important for patients to protect their skin from sun exposure for the first few months after treatment to promote proper healing and long-term results. Most patients will experience a disappearance or significant reduction in skin irregularities after a series of treatment sessions spaced several weeks apart, although results depend on the type and severity of the condition being treated. Sun spots and other forms of sun damage tend to darken after treatment and then shed from the skin after one to two weeks. Patients with rosacea often notice a decrease in redness and a return to a more normal skin tone within a week after treatment. Those with spider veins may experience a full or partial fading of affected vessels after 10 to 14 days. The doctor will develop a customized treatment plan in order to achieve the desired results for each patient's individual condition. What Are The Risks Of Photofacials?Photofacials are considered safe and effective for most patients, with only a minor risk of bruising and redness, which usually fade on their own. When performed by an experienced physician, most patients can achieve their desired results with no complications. Most patients seeking skin rejuvenation to restore a smoother, more youthful appearance, or to correct certain skin issues will be ideal candidates for photofacials. One possible contraindication for photofacial treatment is taking medication that increases photosensitivity. If the patient is using a topical or oral medicine that makes them more sensitive to light, this may not be the right form of treatment. Be sure to discuss the patient's medical history and any medications during a consultation with the physician. The doctor will discuss the details of treatment and address any concerns before scheduling this procedure.More
Rosacea
By agreement
Rosacea is a chronic skin disease that causes redness and swelling on the face. The scalp, neck, ears, chest, back and/or eyes may also be affected. Symptoms range from red pimples, lines and visible blood vessels to dry or burning skin and a tendency to flush easily. Many people find that the emotional effects of rosacea — such as low self-confidence and avoidance of social situations — are more difficult to handle than the physical ones. Although it can affect anyone, rosacea typically appears in light-skinned, light-haired adults aged 30—50. It is not yet known what causes rosacea and the disease is not curable, although it can be treated with topical and oral medications, laser therapy or laser surgery.More
Sclerotherapy
By agreement
Varicose veins are swollen, dark blue or purple blood vessels that you can see and feel beneath the skin. They often look like twisted cords, and usually appear on the calves, inside of the legs, and ankles. They form when the valves inside a vein weaken and allow some blood to flow backward. The vein weakens under the additional strain and balloons outward, raising the skin surface. What Is Sclerotherapy?Sclerotherapy is the standard treatment for varicose veins. A special sclerosing solution is injected into the diseased vein, which then collapses and is gradually absorbed by the body. By the end of the treatment program, the veins are less visible on the skin surface. Sclerotherapy usually also relieves symptoms associated with enlarged veins and prevents further complications.More
Skin Tags

Skin TagsHow can I tell if a skin tag is cancerous?Answer: Skin tags are not cancerous, but any new or changing lesion should be evaluated by a board-certified dermatologist. Signs of skin cancer include asymmetry, border irregularities, color that is not uniform, diameter greater than 6mm, evolving shape, color, or size, and bleeding/non-healing lesions. Skin tags are benign soft small protrusions of skin often compared to «deflated balloons.» They often occur where the skin rubs against itself like the eyelids, neck, axilla and groin. How long does take to remove?Answer: Skin tags can be removed in less than one minute. The size, number, and location will determine which removal technique to use. Options include snipping the tag off with scissors after numbing, or can be «burned off» with cautery. People often want them removed because they hurt or bleed when caught on clothes or jewelry or some people find them just plain unattractive.Does it hurt?Answer: We try to make it pain free by injecting local anesthesia, but the numbing needle can feel like a small bee sting. After the needle, there should be no other sharp pains.Does it require downtime after removing?Answer: No, it requires no downtime. In fact, we encourage you to keep up with daily activities, but while keeping the area clean and dry. The treated spot heals in a matter of days.More
Spider Vein Removal

What Are Spider Veins?A spider vein, or telangiectasias, are small, thin, blood vessels visible beneath the skin. Spider veins appear most commonly on the face and legs and may look like a series of lines, tree branches, or a spider — or web — like shape with a dark center. It is estimated that they affect nearly half of adult women in the U.S.What Are The Causes And Risks Of Spider Veins?Spider veins develop from a backflow of blood in the veins. This condition, which results from damaged valves in the veins, is called «venous reflux.» As blood collects in these veins, their walls distend. This increases the size of the veins, and makes them visible under the surface of the skin. Risk factors for developing a spider vein include the following:Increasing ageHormonal changesPregnancyObesityLack of exerciseSun exposureHaving a family history of spider veins is also a risk factor for developing them.Patient TestimonialDr. Goldman is a rare gem. He does not have a «timer' on when he examines you nor when he explains his findings. He is a top draw professional, conscientious, with the eyes of a hawk. Dr. Goldman is not an alarmist…just a great, kind, patient professional. I give him the highest recommendations possible. -Harold A.Diagnosis And Treatment Of Spider VeinsSpider veins, which are diagnosed through a physical examination of the patient, an analysis of symptoms and, sometimes, diagnostic ultrasound, can be treated in a number of ways, all of which are minimally invasive. Our doctors utilize the latest technology to treat spider veins without surgery or other procedures that require an extended hospital stay and long recovery. Laser ablation takes only 20 minutes in one to two sessions. The procedure is painless and does not require anesthesia. The laser aims carefully controlled pulses of narrow-wavelength light at the damaged veins. The veins absorb the light and heat up, then collapse and close. They are then gradually re-absorbed by the body. Normal activities can be resumed immediately.More

The Vbeam pulse dye laser by Candela has been a gold standard laser treatment for vascular conditions for decades. This incredibly versatile Vbeam lasers treats a remarkable array of skin conditions, from red and brown discoloration to vascular and pigmented lesions to wrinkles and acne and beyond for dramatic skin rejuvenation. The Vbeam laser is highly adaptable because it was designed to give the physician a range of energy strengths to precisely control it and deliver the exact amount of laser energy needed to tackle a specific problem. Each pulse of the Vbeam contains eight micro pulses within. This enables the laser energy to be directed through the micro pulses for effective targeting of even the smallest of spider veins.Treatment with the Vbeam laser is fast, safe, effective and comfortable, thanks to a large spot size and a patented Dynamic Cooling Device (DCDTM). The DCD cools the upper layers of the skin using cryogen in the treatment area just milliseconds prior to the laser pulse being emitted. Combined with the Vbeam's advanced micro-pulse technology, the DCD prevents post-treatment bruising and offers patients little to no downtime after treatment. The full range of conditions the Vbeam laser can treat includes:Areas of rednessUneven pigmentationFrecklesSun spotsRosaceaAcneFacial and leg veinsPigmented lesionsWrinklesPoikilodermaAngiomasHemangiomasPort wine stainsWartsScars and stretch marksVenous lakesPsoriasisBenign gynecological vascular lesionsOther benign cutaneous lesionsThe Vbeam ProcedureMost patients are comfortably seated or lying down during the procedure. Protective eyewear will be put into place to ensure the safety of your eyes in the presence of the laser light. Your doctor will individualize all of the settings on the Vbeam to completely customize the treatment to your particular condition. As a pulsed dye laser, the Vbeam is capable of sending this concentrated light energy directly into the target area without damaging any surrounding tissue. The laser focuses on the blood vessels or pigmented areas that require treatment and is absorbed within them. Since there is little pain associated with use of the Vbeam laser, numbing of the area with an anesthetic is not necessary. However, some physicians prefer to an anesthetic anyway, to ensure the most comfortable experience for their patients. Most patients indicate that all they feel during the treatment is warmth or a slight tingling in the area. The Vbeam's DCD cooling system also prepares the skin and soothes it to diminish any potential discomfort. It provides protection as well, which helps minimize the side effects often experienced with other laser treatments.Candidates For Treatment With The Vbeam LaserThe majority of patients with skin problems that respond to laser treatment are good candidates for a Vbeam laser procedure. It is safe and gentle enough to be applied to most types of skin, and has been used safely and successfully on very young children since the 1980s. After assessing your specific condition and goals for treatment, your physician can discuss with you whether a Vbeam laser procedure would be the most effective way to correct the problem.Vbeam Laser Procedure ResultsThe results may be noticeable immediately following the procedure, or they make take a little time before becoming visible. This will depend upon what type of issue was being addressed as well as whether it typically responds after only one session of laser treatment. How long the results last is also dependant upon what condition the Vbeam laser is treating. Some issues are more likely to respond permanently than others. In many cases, the patient's lifestyle choices after the procedure can affect its longevity as well. For instance, if you are undergoing laser treatment to correct sun damage, then fail to use protection when outdoors, the problem will most likely recur despite the treatment. What Are The Side Effects Of The Vbeam Laser? The Vbeam laser is considered to be a very safe form of treatment that is associated with no serious complications. However, there are some minor, short-lived side effects that may occur, including redness or swelling around the treatment area for several hours following the procedure. In some cases, there is bruising as well, which generally resolves within three to five days.More

Office staff are always caring and professional. Arrived early and was accommodated without hesitation. Medical staff are friendly and caring. I have been seeing Doctor Goldman for nearly 20 years. When I started, I worked very close to his office. Now retired and living in NJ, I make the trip into NYC because of him. I know that there are other dermatologists closer to home but I would not go anywhere else.
