Prefacing this review with the fact that I'm from Orange County, CA where Mexican cuisine is ubiquitous. I came here for a lovely dinner with some fully vacc'd friends. The space here is nice and very open/airy. It was perfect for a hot summer day.
We shared the guacamole appetizer and it was spot on impressive. The guac was super fresh and we all loved it. The chips they served with the guac seemed to be homemade which was great. The guac made a very positive first impression.
s are tasty — I had a mezcal one and didn't have any complaints. Solid!
For my main I had the chile relleno. It's one of my favorite Mexican dishes to get when I'm out because it's really hard to make at home. A chile relleno is a cheese-stuffed poblano pepper dipped in fluffy egg batter and fried until golden brown. It's usually served with salsa roja sauce. Their version was great and bursting with cheese. The pepper was drowning in sauce so unfortunately I didn't get any of the wonderful lightly crispy texture. But overall it was good.
This is a fun spot and a mid-end Mexican place in the village

Just ate there,
Had been a Toloache fan for years and was worried when I'd heard they'd changed their name/concept. But no worries necessary.
The food (Brisket! Cauliflower! Chile Relleno! Heirloom corn flower house-made totillas!) is now better than ever. Go for it!

Went here with my family on a whim after seeing some of the reviews and photos online. We were not disappointed. Whenever the family comes to town I want to be sure that I'm taking them to the best places, and this was certainly a highlight of the trip for them. For starters the service was great, we were greeted with a smile at the door and felt great about it from the beginning. It's also a cool atmosphere and an awesome area in the city. You could go on a date, go with some buddies or bring y… – show

Drinks were great. I had a spicy marg and a Paloma and both had great kick and weren't too sweet. All of the food was very authentic and in general the whole experience felt authentic as well. Delicious, large portions and good meat. The skirt steak was cooked to perfection. Wasn't too expensive either. Awesome spot and I'll be back

My boyfriend and I came here on a summery Friday for our date night. I had been wanting to visit Kuxe for a while after seeing it on Instagram. We were offered the option of sitting inside or on the street but asked if we could sit in their outdoor dining structure instead. They told us we could only sit there an hour and opted for that option as the other seating was very close to other patrons.
We started with a few cocktails which were excellently crafted and very delicious. Quickly after, w… – show
e were served the Tacos de Birria, which neither of us have tried but both enjoyed a lot. The consommé added an amazing amount of flavor to the tacos. We drank the consommé afterwards and were very impressed by how flavorful and hearty it was.
We had a little bit of an issue picking the main course but ended up settling on the Molcajete dish. We were amazed by the sizzling stone pot with steak, cheese, shrimp, and chicken and a few sides. Despite being a mix of many different things, everything was delicious.
We left Kuxe feeling very full and content. Overall we had a very positive experience here and I would not hesitate to return to try their other options.

Kuxé is by far the best restaurant in Greenwich Village. A wide menu allows you to get something light or an entree to leave you pleasantly stuffed. The drinks are the best value around--strong, but tasteful, and all for under $13. The environment is more welcoming than any place I've been to. Anywhere. Ariel is the king of hospitality and genuinely cares for his patrons. He has made Kuxé feel like home in a matter of weeks. Our server Ana is the sweetest and it's always a pleasure to be served… – show
here! Takeout is always perfect too. My only complaint is I wish they stayed open later on the weekdays!

This place is great! I called on a Friday afternoon to make reservations on a Saturday night for a group of 10, and they were very accommodating.
We owner/host had us seated even though we only had half the party present, during that time we had ordered the guacamole and chips along with our cocktails (in the jungle and del Pueblo). The drinks were fantastic! The del Pueblo was creamy and not overly sweet. In the jungle they used a tequila that was a in between a mezcal and regular tequila, it… – show
was a nice light drink.
The menu is really cool, they give you a little story of what each dish represents to them and the history behind it.
My party and I ended up getting a little bit of everything. The lamb shank, came with a side of tortillas and rice/beans. Another friend ended up getting the mole, and they were pleased with the way the mole came out.
My partner and I ending up ordering the tacos de Birria with consome, tacos dorado, and the enfrijoladas. Everything was delicious, full of flavor and fresh. The consome was one of the better ones I've tried, hearty and full of flavor.
One of the main reasons I really wanted to check this place out was because they serve heirloom corn tortillas which are hand pressed.

Loved it!
Me and my friend sat outdoors. The weather was lovely but it is a busy street. Lots of people walked by.
Soup was perfectly portioned with lots of depth in the dish. Not too much heat but great flavors.
Birria tacos were my FAVORITE. CHEESY, YUMMY, CRUNCHY, JUICY TACOS. I want birria tacos every day.
Churros had 2 sauces, caramel and chocolate. Chocolate was my favorite.
Service was prompt and polite. I'd return again to try everything on the menu.
Solid Mexican restaurant.

Loving this new spot. The tacos are totally on point. I haven't had a really amazing taco in NYC in quite some time and these al pastor were so good. And I've never had tacos de birria before but boy are they flavorful here.
The mole was just as good as the ones I've had in Mexico. In fact, the entire meal was so good and well put together that I had made my next reservation before I even paid.
The prices are very reasonable and the meal was filling. I'd highly recommend you come and check thi… – show

I can definitely see why this spot is popular. I had made a reservation since it was a Saturday night, and was seated in one of the outdoor booths right away. Our waitress and the waitstaff were super attentive and offered suggestions for drinks.
I started off with the Kuxe margarita. It had a nice smooth flavor and a cool «K» formed in the middle. For food we tried out their famous birria tacos and consome. The tacos are the street taco style and are served in an order of two. I am usually th… – show
e first to request salsa to add to tacos, but it was not needed this time. The consome had a really nice kick to it. It was spicy, but not overwhelming. While the tacos are great, the portion size is on the small side. If you plan on just ordering tacos, I would recommend adding a side or splitting an extra order of tacos.

Every dish on the menu has a little narrative that gives you the backstory of how that dish came to be for each of the chefs that contributed to it. It's a wonderful, low-barrier way to really get into the story behind some of these nostalgic dishes.
Kuxe has a bunch of outdoor enclosed booths, indoor booth seating and indoor tables. The decor is fresh and updated with muted tropical greens and corals.
I tried a bunch of different things here, and I would definitely recommend the birria tacos.… – show
It's rich, unctuous and juicy — definitely get the consomme to dip it in. Like a Mexican French dip! The guacamole comes with homemade corn tostadas and chicharrons, and you can get it in varying spice levels — the smoky heat may be from an ancho chile or similar. I liked the ceviche too; it had a panoply of seafood and I liked the flavors and textures. I didn't care for it being served on top of a tostada that quickly turned soggy, though. The cauliflower side had a nutty hot chili oil dressing that was tasty though a bit too oily for me.
Check out the desserts too! Especially the bunuelos. They're like dessert version of tortillas, where corn crepes are deep fried to a crisp and coated in a cinnamon sugar, and then three or four of those was filled with ice cream in between, much like an ice box cake. The manager actually gave these to us on the house since we didn't know what they were about — and I'm so glad we got the chance to try them! The churros were crisp and fluffy and light. The rice pudding was more watery than expected and had the consistency of Chinese congee, although I did enjoy the textural contrasts added from the sliced bananas and caramelized popcorn topping.

I am impressed, Kuxé was actually fabulous. The rates are pretty moderate as well. These guys have a magnificent menu also. The staff were very courteous, helpful, and very easy to talk to. I will certainly be back again next time I'm in area.

Officially my favorite Mexican restaurant in NYC. What a gem in Manhattan. You MUST add this to your list. There is a reason why they have 6 stars. My husband and I stumbled upon this place while walking past Washington square park on a Sunday afternoon and we are so glad we did. We felt like we were transported back to Mexico (we just took a vacation out there at a 5 star resort Le Blanc and the level of service and warmth here reminded me our time in Mexico) The decor indoors and outdoors was… – show
beautiful. Rosana our server was SO sweet as well as the manager and other staff. Just reopened, new concept, good prices, authentic Amazing food that came from Mexico and most importantly such kind attentive hospitality! Servers, manager were all so nice and friendly. This kind of hospitality is so hard to find in New York City. It made the experience that much more excellent. Thank you Kuxe for coming to NYC!!

Delicious and authentic Mexican food! Love that the restaurant was rebranded to serve food authentic to Mexican cuisine. Had the birria and cauliflower (vegetarian) tacos which were both perfection! That house guac was fresh, flavorful and had a hint of heat and the churros were delectable and not too sweet. Would highly recommend this place if you're looking for a wonderful dining experience!

Stumbled into this place looking for lunch on a Saturday when everything else was too packed. Food was absolutely delicious, and all the ingredients were really fresh. We loved the tacos especially. Service was fantastic and everyone was fully masked. Started off with the delicious guacamole, got the al pastor and dorado tacos and enfrijoladas. LOVED IT. Will come back and bring more people

The new spot from the man behind Toloache, serving tacos and lots of other snacks and large plates is really good.
They have individuals little outdoor compartments for outdoor dining as well as indoor seating. The tacos we tried were excellent, especially the Birria, a must try here. Definitively also get the Cemita, a big satisfying version on great bread.
