Great place IF (big if) you can get into a class and have zero medical issues. Dangerous place if you have any injuries/health issues and can’t get in with the instructors that are actually trained in safe instruction. If you injure yourself in class, they will stick it to you with the cancellation policy too.
My husband and I have been doing Pilates for years. Both of us are disabled veterans and it’s something I credit with getting me back to exercise in a safe way. Pilates was built by Joseph Pilates to treat military injuries after all. In the past we’ve had instructors who are attentive, hands on, and when explaining a move give modifications and warnings if it’s a move that can be dangerous. Some of the instructors here like Wade are like that but most are not and because they take on more memberships than their schedule can handle, it became extremely frustrating considering the high cost of it.
Most of the time, even if you book the minute your classes are released, the unlimited members have already snapped up the good instructors and you are left with classes that don’t fit a working persons schedule or classes you don’t want. This is something that was discussed with them during multiple months and they seemed to think the answer was waiting lists, but I can’t run my busy life based on whether I will get into a class the same day. If I’m looking 30 days in advance I shouldn’t have to get on multiple wait lists with the hope I’ll get into 30% of them or try to rearrange my schedule last minute so I don’t have unused credits. Never did they offer to release our credits early after months of mentioning issues. Looks like in a response to another negative review they said that. We asked if that was possible and were told no.
The classes run by Renee seem to always have empty spots or availability or are easy to get off the waitlist, but quality of instruction is low. After injuring my back multiple times in her class (despite me generally knowing modifications and proper form from previous years of instruction), I had to cancel my membership and be told I’d still have to pay for classes I was medically unable to use. My husband has knee replacements and balance issues and yet Renee and others don’t ask about any issues, or they do, and then proceed to correct people when they try to modify for what they CAN do or do a routine that excludes that individual from participating. Several times we’ve felt scolded like children for not doing a move right when the issue was medical issues or the instructor not knowing how to cue moves. It would be better to stick to safe moves with high reps than Constantly be switching equipment and trying to explain exercise in a rushed manner. That’s where injury happens. It’s also isolating when you are the only one who can’t fully participate.β¦ β show

Great lovely Pilates studio in Alexandria VA! This studio is located in a great location and it is one of the best studio in town. The glass doors for the group room is amazing and no other studios in the area has that. Instructors and the staff are all nice and are top notch. Highly recommend this studio if you are looking to take Pilates classes and get fit!

Hands down the best decision I have ever made for my weight loss goals. Love the classes and instructors. After 50 classes, folks have noticed my results. But more importantly, I have noticed my results and the improvement of my core strength..
Thank you Ursula for your 5-star review of our classes and instructors!

I liked the program and pilates. Unfortunately there is 0 community but 'most' instructors were good. (Only didn't enjoy 1 class out of 19) I joined late '21, six months later it feels like it's a fast food joint, people barely talk, idk what happened but it was a little sunnier before the new year.
Either way, my gripe is it's 100 bucks per month yet these days I can't even get a saturday class. There are About 4 classes every Saturday(my free day), class starts at 9 am ends at 1pm, (why onlyearly) compared to monday's 8 classes which ends at 9pm. I've whined before but they haven't switched up the schedule in forever, so you have to literally book weeks in advance for saturdays. This isn't a doctor's appointment, it's a pilates class, one you're literally paying 100+ for EVERY month. The next free Saturday is the 26th, today's the 11th. Don't let them sell on the the waiting list, people USED to drop off it, but these days it gets so rare to get a class people would rather lose a credit than give up a spot.
To sum it up, I liked pilates, i thought it was dope. Healthy and fun. But a BIG part of their brand was being a friendly space and being something to look forward to every week. Without those important factors it's felt more like a limp gym membership that you can't cancel online so you end up writing a bad review hoping to cancel it next time you're in person.β¦ β show
Hi Andy A — Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. Our team is not only thankful for your feedback, but we take all feedback, positive and negative, very seriously.
Due to the popularity of weekend classes, we ask that you utilize the waitlist feature on the app. Upon reviewing your account, I see that you have either been added to classes from the waitlist or you have cancelled your booking prior to the class day. Majority of our members who remain on the waitlist do in fact get into classes and you will be notified via email when this occurs. If you need your credits released early, we can help you at the front desk. I hope this helps! If you need further assistance, please stop by front desk and we're happy to help!β¦ β show

I signed up a few weeks ago for the unlimited plan and I am SOLD. There are highly trained instructors, the workouts are exciting, and it is really challenging! There are so many different types of classes as well which keeps things interesting. I especially love Justine, Dawn, and Kalinka's classes as they are all innovative and you leave feeling amazing. Great value as well given the quality of the instructors and overall studio.

Very friendly studio. The instructors ask about your health concerns before the class begins and are good about modifying as necessary. I'm new to Pilates, but love it!

This is a terrific Pilates studio – Joseph would be proud! Inviting space, convenient location, welcoming front desk, and highly-trained instructors. None of the classes are repetitious because each station has a full range of equipment and the instructors have the skills to mix it up. I've also never seen such a diverse clientele -- all ages, races, body types, and skill levels -- even a few guys like me! I just doubled my membership level.

LOVE the studio, the staff, the classes, and the special events they put on. I now also do semi-privates (2 people) with my 83-year-old mother, and she loves it too; i can see the gains she's making in flexibility and strength on a weekly basis. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

The staff was extremely helpful resolving the issues with my ongoing contract and I appreciate their responses and being so understanding of my situation.
But the classes itself are worth it! If I didn't lose my job I would have kept going since the instructors are cool and have engaging classes that are extremely helpful
