Incredible store and service! Jennifer was amazing! I walked in with a broken pair of glasses and walked out with a brand new pair in less than 30 minutes without an appointment. Jennifer went above and beyond to match my lenses with new frames, testing out every one in the store. I had never been to the store before but am absolutely coming back! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I went in for an eye exam and that was great -- quick, efficient, etc. I would have considered getting glasses there but nothing appealed at all so I went elsewhere for those.

Leila was great during the testing, I was so nervous, she was calming and so gentle. Jen was awesome at helping me pick out frames! Dr Vuong explained everything and this experience was wonderful.

I highly recommend New Era Eyecare! One of the lenses in my sunglasses popped out and I needed to unscrew the frame to pop it back in. The problem was, the screw to open the frame was stripped. So today I walked in to New Era for help removing the stripped screw to fix my sunglasses. Within 20 minutes, Leila had removed the screw, fixed my sunglasses, and replaced the stripped screw with a new one. Leila was incredibly kind, helpful, and funny! Plus, I couldn't beat the price. Thanks Leila!… – show

I walked in Friday morning to browse around for some frames. I came in because I was referred out by a fellow colleague. I will be honest I had been there prior, I believe in October and I was not pleased. The staff and management didn’t really seem happy to be at work and the service was mediocre. However something told me to give this shop another chance and I am happy I did. One, the office looked revamped and the staff there seemed totally different and more on it. The young man at his desk greeted me kindly and right away. Although he was on the phone, he made sure I felt welcomed. The two other women were very nice. Their optical knowledge was definitely appreciated. Overall not sure what happened but the atmosphere has changed and I will be returning. Keep up the great work.… – show

I went to New Era Eyecare in Old Town Alexandria to buy a pair of new sunglasses and they provided absolutely NO customer service. The woman at the front desk was pleasant enough and pointed me to where the brand of sunglasses I wanted were. I was in the shop for probably 15 minutes trying on sunglasses and the optometrist never said a word to me. Needless to say, I walked out, and went to Voorthuis Optometry around the corner and was provided with phenomenal customer service, so go to Voorthuis if you are looking for good customer service. You won't find it at New Era Eyecare.… – show

DR. ADAIR — I WANT A FULL REFUND — I WAS MISLEAD
As a consumer, I make it a point to support local businesses as much as possible.
Yesterday, I visited a new eye doctor — in Old Town Alexandria - Dr. Edwin Adair III — at New Era Eyecare.
Dr. Adair was fantastic! he spent about an hour with me conducting a very detailed eye exam. He simply and succinctly explained the findings of the exam. I thought - boy, this is terrific service. Very professional. I was delighted to have found an eye doctor I'd return to in the future for my eye care needs.
After the examination, I was presented with a bill for $150 — separate and additional — for a contact fit exam.
None of this — the additional cost for a contact exam — was explained to me prior to the exam. The assistant acknowledged and seemed familiar with the terms of my coverage from the discussion we had at the counter. Moreover, and a as matter of fact, when I made the appointment, I provided Dr. Adair's assistant with my plan and ID so that we all knew what covered — or not. I was very specific in what I needed — an eye exam, and scripts for both glasses or contacts.
When I arrived for my 3PM exam, I was asked to sign what seemed like a routine form. I was asked to sign twice, which I did but not told about the additional cost for a contact exam. I was just asked to sign twice. I thought I was dealing with a reputable establishment and staff and made nothing of it. I was just happy to finally have my vision checked.
I paid the cost of the contact exam. At the time, I was so embarrassed — and shocked — and was polite and just left.
After further consideration, I am asking for a refund and would encourage the office to be fully transparent with patients — before — they are seen by the doctor. There should be no “surprises” on the way out the door.
What was an otherwise pleasant office visit, has left me cheated and disappointed. I can't help but to wonder how many other people on fixed incomes have had this negative experience. There is no need for it. The office made enough money as it was with what was charged to my insurance plan.
The office has my contacts. I look forward to a full refund. Please don't call me, just issue the refund by COB tomorrow, November 24, 2021.
Failure to do so, I'll have no alternative but to contact my insurance provider, local chamber of commerce, Better Business Bureau and media; and the appropriate local, county and state authorities.
