How Nicelocal works for Business
Customers search for services online and find Nicelocal
They choose the company with the richest profile
They make a call and book a service with that company
Bottom line: Don't bait and switch your customers. If you want to add a restaurant fee, put a sign on the door or bold signs on the table. Add the price to the already insanely high menu prices and let people decide if they want to pay that. Give this “COVID fee” to your workers who work hard to make your restaurant successful, yet they don't get any of this fee. We won't return.
Pros: — Local, decent place for sushi in the Del Ray area that many people can walk to if they desire — Good service — Spicy margarita was pretty good — Birria taco was legit
Cons: — Expensive (for the quality/portions) — Unexpected 10% restaurant fee that DOES NOT go to the workers (although this is on the menu, it's in very light/small font in a very dark restaurant-you cannot see it) — Better sushi can be found in old town with better cuts/portions… – show

Kaizen has a variety of cuisines and options (mainly sushi). While most dishes are good some are below expectations. Service is fine, with nothing bad about but also nothing exceptional. The interior is nicely decorated and clean. Overall a decent experience, but you can find better sushi in the area.

This place would go out of business if literally Anyone else opened a sushi restaurant in DelRay. Just because you are the only sushi (sort of) restaurant in delray does not mean you get to price gauge. When I called to order sushi they quoted me entirely different prices than their own menu lists. The manager (or owner?) could not have been ruder about this. I will gladly go to Jin sushi Next Door or Kusshi at Pentagon City just to avoid this dishonesty and tiny portions.

Food was excellent and the waiters and service was top notch. Only problem was the 10% restaurant fee (well after Covid) that came on the bill unannounced. I’m happy to pay more for inflation, but don’t hide it in the bill. Just be honest with your customers and increase your menu prices.

very mediocre and incredibly over priced sushi. A disjointed fusion of Latin Asian and American foods that does injustice to all three

Not worth the price. I used to love this place but I won’t be going anymore.

This place has been a favorite in the past but recent changes are underwhelming. The food was average and the menu lacked cohesiveness (sushi and tacos). Additionally, the new iPad menus seem pointless since you can’t actually order on them. On a good note, the service continues to be great! Here is to hoping the smoky del ray roll is brought back to the menu!

This place has so much potential and used to be a regular date night spot for us. Service has always been pretty good throughout the changes over the years.
But the food is way overpriced. It's obnoxious. This place will not survive with this model and don't tell me I can go to happy hour. A Shrimp Tempura roll at $16 is a joke.
You can get 2.5 shrimp tempura rolls at Zento or Momo's for the price of 1 roll here (this goes for ALL rolls — spicy tuna, yellowtail, philly roll).
Charge whatever you want, but this won't be sustainable for a long term restaurant and the quality of the food does not even come close to the price. And there's a reason this place is never crowded.
No one in Del Ray wants this kind of mark-up on the food + 10% surcharge + 10% Alexandria and VA tax + 20% tip....… – show

If you love sushi like I love sushi, you need to check this place out. The ownership changed a few months back and the sushi quality has leaped into the top ranks of the best in DC. I've tracked down DC area's best sushi for 40 years and the chef in this tiny place is one of the best. Discover it and spread the word to our fellow sushi fanatics.
Our apologies! We will let the kitchen know about the matter, and we wish we could have fix it but unfortunately the issue was not brought to our attention but hopefully this will not happen again and thank you kindly.

We enjoyed this place. We had the fried dumplings, Chef Roll, and a couple tacos. All were very good. They add a hidden 10% surcharge on bill for “inflation and high gas prices.” They should be upfront about charging more than the listed prices. Server was friendly. I would recommend this place.
High quality food and several vegan options, very tasty. Staff was personable. Just be aware there is a 10% surcharge on pretax total. It is an unpleasant economy out there.
Ordered tacos and an appetizer. Ended up with an appetizer and an a taco, a taco! i paid for 24 dollars. Not worth the prize. Would not recommend.

Excellent little local sushi restaurant in Del Ray that has indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is friendly and ready to make recommendations if you need them. The sushi chefs are killing it behind the bar and even let us try a new creation as they developed it. Highly recommend for happy hour, date night, or a bite after work. Try the lengua tacos. Or any of their tacos.
