Staff is always so friendly and fun. Everyone seems to sincerely enjoy their jobs. Superb grooming for matted cats. Highly recommend!!

We would give Happy Cat Hotel 10 stars if we could! It was the purr-fect experience for our two kids, Maci and Dudley. In fact, when we came to pick them up for the return home, they didn’t want to leave! The Happy Cat team of Leanne, Jackie, Amanda, Stephanie and Emmy took such superb care of them. We are so lucky to have a wonderful place like this in the Washington DC area.

Going on vacation for the first time since the pandemic began, this was our first experience putting our cats in any t ype of boarding. We were always reluctant to put them in a facility with the thought of our cats being in cages for a long duration. The option of keeping the cats at home and having a trusted sitter coming over was limited because Dudley is diabetic and requires two injections a day. The thought of having a stranger come into our home was not appealing.

We first knew about the Happy Cat Hotel from an online newspaper article. When we were firming up vacation plans and recognized that keeping the cats at home was not viable, we decided to visit and check out the Hotel. Upon entering, the first impression and thought was “no odor”! Leanne and Jackie greeted us and showed us all the hotel suites. We were impressed with the overall appearance, novel room themes, cat furniture, climbing platforms, cleanliness, process for caring of the cats, and ability to provide medications. We promptly booked.

The day before our trip, we checked Dudley and Maci into their Happy Cat Hotel room. A litter box and feeding bowls are all provided so we didn’t have to bring those items from home. A recirculating water source is already in the room. We provided the food, treats, insulin, needles, and non-fragrant litter. (They provide their own litter if you choose not to bring your own.) We also left a blanket in the room to leave them an article with a familiar scent from home.

Every day the Happy Cat staff would send us pictures of our kids at play, hanging out, or climbing. Once a day the cats were briefly let out of their room to roam the facility to exercise and further satisfy their curious minds. The pictures were reassuring to us and showed the great care the cats were receiving. We also were sent reports on how they were eating and using the facility. This made our vacation stress-free knowing our kids were in such good hands!

Happy Cat also groomed our cats with their spa service—nail trim, bath and blow dry, brushing. They did a great job. When we picked them up, they looked extra fabulous.

When we received the final hotel bill, there were no surprise charges. That never happened when we stayed at a human hotel!

We are so pleased with our decision to use the Happy Cat Hotel and will enthusiastically be using their facilities and services again for our next vacation. … – show

He's stayed several times over the past few months, and I'm always so grateful for your caring support, attentiveness, and the fun you have with him while I'm away. I often feel that he gets so comfortable that he doesn't want to leave when it's time to go! Thanks for the daily photos you send and all you do to support our feline friends!

We were super pleased with the care and grooming our cat Meemow received at Happy Cat. The staff are talented and professional and made Meemow look great. We will be back.

My cat has not had good experiences with grooming in the past. Even though its a little far from me, I thought trying a certified groomer would be my only hope. Not only did my cat do great, but she didn't hate me when we got home. A wonderful experience for both of us. Reasonable price and excellent care. Purrrfect!

Such a sweet business! They are friendly, wonderful cat people and they took such good care of our sweet little cat. We had her in for grooming, but the boarding looked so cute, we may use them for boarding now too. Definitely recommend!

I can't recommend Happy Cat Hotel in Alexandria highly enough for boarding, especially if you're dealing with cats with special needs, such as requiring insulin shots, inhaled medications, or otherwise dealing with anxious cats. I've no doubt they really love caring for cats.

Prior to a work trip, I had to start giving one of my cats insulin: I was really anxious about the trip, being halfway around the world with an extremely anxious cat who previous sitters had failed to manage to give his e asier (asthma) medications, and with all indications that he was going to be very difficult with the new procedures. After a couple days it was extremely clear that my cats were in excellent hands: they worked with my more difficult cat to get him comfortable with his meds (to the extent that he handled things better when we returned), provided regular photo updates, and overall were just incredible. I was able to relax on my trip knowing my cats were in excellent hands.

The rooms are spacious, clean, and the staff is top-notch. I'll happily be returning. The only other time I've paid for boarding of my cats, I paid about the same, and they were confined to a comparatively tiny crate, and completely stressed: happy cat hotel has been, comparatively, in another league. … – show

My two kitten girls were recently boarded at Happy Cat Hotel ad Spa. They kitten spaces are cute and full of toys. I got adorable pictures of them while I was away. It was comforting knowing that they were being well taken care of.

The Happy Cat Hotel did a fantastic job looking after our older cat, Banner. The staff were very attentive to his medical needs and went above and beyond when he had a small (self inflicted) injury while he was there. They communicated with us throughout his stay to keep us informed on his condition and took really good care of him. He has never been so relaxed and stress free when being boarded or while being cared for by friends or neighbors (and *I* had much less stress knowing that he was in an engaging enclosure and had attentive people to care for him and play with him). 10/10, would recommend to friends and we'll definitely be using their services again in the future! … – show

We've been looking for a groomer for our ragdoll cat and gave Happy Cat a shot. They have done a wonderful job grooming him and our cat is not stressed when we pick him up. Very professional staff and they take great care to groom and board cats. I highly recommend them!

AMAZING! I cannot say enough good things about our kitty grooming experience. 10x better than our last experience. She was very stressed and vocal at drop off, but look at a few pictures shared upon completion of the grooming. She is so relaxed. This speaks volumes to the genuine care she received. The progress pictures sent were a personalized touch and put me at ease. The boarding rooms look great. It is very apparent how much everyone at Happy Cat cares for felines. It’s so hard to find a cat-only groomer in the area. We noticed that our cats would come home very stressed from groomers who also had dogs around, so we are so happy that Happy Cat exists! They came home so relaxed and happy to be freshly groomed. Although we moved further away from Alexandria, we are still going to continue bringing our kitties here for their grooming needs!

Happy Cat Hotel is the best groomer I’ve ever had for my cat Iris! Everywhere else I’ve gone Iris has ended up getting her whiskers cut or she was still shedding a ton after the cut and bath. The groomers at the happy cat are so friendly and I always felt Iris was in good hands. She smells amazing and my partner doesn’t have allergies for weeks after getting the plush trim. Sadly, I’m moving away and for Iris’ last appointment they gave her all the extra love and even came out to say goodbye to her. I can only hope to find another place as great as this. They really do love cats. =) … – show

We can’t say enough good things about Happy Cat Hotel in Alexandria. Leanne and Jackie are truly incredible. I know we weren’t easy to deal with in the beginning as we were very nervous about leaving our cat, Sparky, there for the first time so we had many questions for them, but they were always receptive and reassuring and we left knowing Sparky was in good hands. We received daily updates with pics, which made us feel so much better that he was doing well and it gave us peace of mind. Tha nk you Leanne and Jackie for all that you do, you both provide a tremendous service.

Happy Cat Hotel in Alexandria is a wonderful resource for my cat and me. My cat has stayed there a couple of times and it has consistently been a great experience- both for her and me. The staff are dedicated and really seem to understand cats (even my shy cat). It's a very clean facility, and I'm updated daily on how my cat is doing.

Where is the 10 stars rating!!! I was given the Happy Cat Hotel & Spa recommendation from Sparkles of Sparkles Groomcraft and Wizardry after getting my dog groomed by her and mentioning I was looking for a more reliable cat groomer. Well she sent me to the purrfect place, pun totally intended! I schedule my 2 Persian's appointments a week a part and I am so pleased with both! Jackie was amazing, so welcoming and friendly with both Shadow and Panda. She took the time to ask questions about their demeanor and explained her process for the lion cut. It took roughly 2hrs for Shadow and 2 1/2hrs for Panda. I even learned that because Panda is a diluted calico it makes her fur more prone to matting, so I will be making sure as she grows out we keep her mat-free in between appointments. Loved this place, and our cat did too! Staff is highly professional, security conscious (safe staff and clients!), very hygienic, super friendly, and obviously in love with their jobs. We enjoyed the daily photos they sent us to see our fur baby and know all was well. I could complain about the prices, but everything in this area is expensive and the value for their services is exceptional. We will come back the next time we need to board our cat, no doubt about it! I urge others to plan ahead a nd board early as they fill up fast, for good reason! … – show
